Who we are
We are a grassroots advocacy group based in Toronto with a shared concern over the state of indoor air quality in our built environments. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen the impact of poor indoor air quality on our communities. Many of us are parents/caregivers or relatives of children, and we see on-going high levels of illness that are affecting learning outcomes as well as causing long-term health consequences for both students and education staff.
Our mission is to safeguard public health by advocating for laws, policies, and actions that will ensure equitable access to clean indoor air in our built environments and especially in all shared public spaces. We are working to raise awareness of the importance of indoor air quality and effective measures to protect against indoor air pollutants and airborne diseases.
Although our advocacy efforts are Toronto-focused, we are working for the good of all Canadians, as we hope that positive changes here will set an example for other municipalities across Canada.

Member Profiles
Members of Clean Indoor Air Toronto come from across this city. Many of us are parents/caregivers and relatives of children who attend Toronto’s public schools. Our group includes scientists and engineers who understand the science of air quality and the health impacts of poor air quality. You may not see us eating in a restaurant, but you will definitely see us wearing a well-fitted high quality mask like an N-95 respirator or a CAN-99 earloop mask, and carrying a CO2 monitor to check ventilation wherever we go!
